Over the years, the role of the elderly in society has changed considerably, the population is aging and life expectancy has increased over the last decades. With aging, there was a need for care directed to the needs of the elderly. Law No. 10741/03 established the Statute of the Elderly, at a time when there was a concern of the legislator to ensure the right to age with dignity. The care policy was established by Law No. 15069/24, a law that seeks to protect the caregiver's person, both labor, social security and social. This article aims to analyze the need to care for those who care, that is, in order to evaluate how society has been treating the caregiver of the elderly and the importance of this for a quality life of the assisted, emphasizing, among other things, public policies that are being developed for caregivers of the elderly.
