Nursing care for patients with fournier syndrome: integrative review

Introduction: Fournier’s syndrome is a synergistic polymicrobial necrotizing infection of the genital, perineal and/or perianal regions, with rapid progression and potentially fatal. The implementation of a nursing care plan becomes essential for proper management and focuses on the needs of the patient. Objective: To identify, in the literature, nursing care for patients with Fournier’s syndrome. Materials and methods: Integrative literature review, conducted in the month of September 2023 and updated in March 2025, in the databases Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Nursing Database and Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences. Results and discussion: 15 productions were identified and four of which were included. The main attribution of nursing evidenced in studies, especially the nurse, related to the application and implementation of the nursing process, in the light of nursing theories, with emphasis on Wanda Horta’s Theory of Basic Human Needs and Marjory Gordon’s Theory of Functional Health Patterns. Final considerations: The applicability of theories was found as a way to support the nursing process and care for patients with Fournier’s Syndrome, in order to guarantee therapeutic success
