Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is a unique and complex time in the life of a woman and her family, characterized by physical, emotional and social transformations. Although in most cases the gestational process culminates in a positive outcome, there are situations in which obstetric complications can compromise maternal and fetal health, requiring specialized monitoring and timely interventions. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the importance of early screening for preeclampsia in pregnant women, identifying studies and data available in the scientific literature to validate the research.Method: This is a systematic literature review that aims to analyze accessible studies on the importance of prevention and early screening of preeclampsia in pregnant women. The research was conducted using widely recognized scientific databases, such as PubMed, LILACS, SciELO and CINAHL, searching for articles published in the last ten years in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Results and Discussion: Prevention and early detection of pre-eclampsia are essential strategies for reducing maternal and perinatal mortality. The data revealed that early identification of risk factors, the use of technologies for early screening, and multidisciplinary action, especially from nursing, play a fundamental role in improving gestational outcomes. Conclusion: Preeclampsia is one of the most common gestational complications, representing a risk to the life of the mother and fetus, further increasing the mortality and morbidity rate. The need for multidisciplinary care, focused on surveillance, early diagnosis and implementation of interventions, becomes evident.
