Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to analyze the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (SCA) performed at the Hospital Escola de Valença-RJ, through a review of medical records, comparing practice with theory. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and quantitative study, carried out through the analysis of medical records in a significant sample of patients diagnosed with ACS in the first half of 2022. Analyzing two groups, the first ACS without ST-segment elevation (NSTE-ACS) and the second group, ACS with ST-segment elevation (ST-ACS). In both groups, evaluating the measurements at the first 24 hours and the therapeutic regimen at hospital leave autorizarion. In addition, demographic data of the patients were collected and a spreadsheet was created to compare statistics by means of percentages. Results: Among the NSTEACS group, ASA was prescribed in all, the second antiplatelet in 98.27% and anticoagulant in 87.93%. Angiography is mentioned for evaluation or as a final procedure, in the first 24 hours, in only 36.20% of the medical records. In the NSTEACS group, in the first 24 hours of treatment, ASA, antiplatelet and anticoagulant were prescribed in all and in 75% of the records a thrombolytic was prescribed. With a total sample of 62 patients, 83.87% received AAS, 87.09% statins, 64.51% beta-blockers and 77.41% ACEI inhibitors or RBs in the discharge prescription. Conclusion: With the data collected in the present study, it was possible to conclude that, although ACS has well-disseminated treatment guidelines, there are still gaps in medical practice.
