CORRELACIÓN ENTRE LA PANDEMIA DE COVID-19 Y LA DEPRESIÓN: UN ESTUDIO DE LA POBLACIÓN GENERAL DEL CONTINENTE AMERICANO CON ENFOQUE EN LOS ESTUDIANTES

Resumen

En el presente estudio buscamos comprender el contexto pandémico actual y su relación con los casos de depresión en la comunidad académica y población en general del continente americano, además de promover la conciencia sobre el tema. La investigación realizada se basó en la exploración de bases de datos (PubMed, Scielo, American Psychological Association y Brazilian Digital Library of Thes and Dissertations) en las que se analizaron artículos sobre la correlación entre la depresión y la pandemia de covid-19. Se seleccionaron trabajos que correspondieran al tema de la depresión en estudiantes durante la pandemia de la Covid-19 en América, así como estudios de su paralelo en la población general de estos países. Se observó un gran impacto del Covid-19 en las tasas de depresión entre los estudiantes y la población en general, especialmente en mujeres y grupos vulnerables. En vista de los resultados, existe escasez de trabajos académicos sobre el tema, lo que requiere más investigación para ampliar el debate.
